PB&J Oatmeal

Convivial · Sid

Part of Basic Protein Oatmeal

This is the same as the protein oatmeal just with peanut butter and jam, which adds extra fat, carbs and flavor. This is good to eat before a long run as it'll keep you full and it's full of fast digesting sugars for energy. I would only eat this if you're running more than 8 miles, if not it'll probably not get used up.

Instructions

  1. 1

In a glass container or bowl (I use a 2-cup Pyrex container), add the oats, water, chia seeds, cinnamon, and salt. Stir together, and microwave for 2 minutes, stirring after 1.30 minutes, and keeping an eye on it to make sure it doesn't bubble up and spill out.

  2. 2

Remove from the microwave, and there should still be some liquid that hasn't gotten absorbed yet, just mix it for 20-30 seconds and let it sit for a few minutes.

  3. 3

Once the oatmeal base is thick enough to your liking, I like it on the thinner side so I might add more water if it's too thick, add the flaxseed meal and protein powder. Mix until well combined.

  4. 4

Add the peanut butter and jelly on top and I push it in to the oatmeal so it gets warm and it's easier to mix around.
